Hoogwegt is a global leader in the dairy and commodity trading industry, with 450 professionals worldwide operating in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. We are looking for a sharp, data-driven Global Dairy Analyst to join our team.
In this role, you will be the analytical backbone for our global forecasting initiatives. Working within a small, highly diverse, and international team, you will help us map out and forecast global dairy prices across major markets like the US, Europe, and New Zealand. We are looking for someone who thrives on the high-energy rhythm of a trading environment but is passionately driven by the science of market analysis. This is a role for a professional who enjoys the intersection of economic intuition, data science, and global market dynamics.
What will you do
- Clean, handle, and analyze massive global dairy datasets, tracking supply, demand trends, trade flows, and pricing across international markets.
- Act as a savvy analytical partner to our commercial teams, answering complex strategic business questions with data-driven confidence.
- Help build and maintain our structural forecasting models. You will combine economic variables with quantitative techniques, ensuring concepts like validity, reliability, and statistical confidence are strictly applied.
- Create clear graphical visualizations to translate intricate data trends and quantitative insights into compelling, easily understood stories for traders and international stakeholders.
- Stay in close contact with our global offices, from colleagues in the US to teams across the APEC region, to integrate local market insights into global models.
Who are you?
- You bring roughly 4 years of solid experience in macro-economic or market analysis. You have a strong affinity for fundamental supply and demand factors. A background in agriculture or broader commodities is a plus.
- You hold a university degree that is heavily data-focused (e.g., Economics, Data Science, Econometrics, or a related quantitative field).
- Advanced mastery of Excel is a must.
- Preferably hands-on programming skills in Python, and experience with libraries like pandas, numpy, and matplotlib/seaborn.
- Next to being fluent in English, you are also curious, open-minded, and eager to collaborate with a small, international team and diverse global stakeholders.
- You live within commuting distance of our Arnhem office and are energized by in-person collaboration, being on-site at least 4 days a week.
- You understand how quantitative models support forecasting, combined with economic intuition.
What we offer
- At Hoogwegt, we offer an environment where entrepreneurship is valued and where you can truly be yourself.
- Numerous opportunities for personal growth and the autonomy to shape and lead your own analytical projects.
- A 37.5-hour work week with a modern approach to health, including on-site sports classes (bootcamp, yoga, running) three times a week.
- An exceptionally attractive pension scheme with high employer contributions and collective insurance arrangements.
- Competitive secondary benefits package, including a discretionary annual gratification based on company results.
- A warm welcome into an informal, open culture in a state-of-the-art office located right at Arnhem Central Station.
