Navigating Global Commodity Dynamics
Are you fascinated by the complex interplay of global economics, geopolitics, and trade? At Hoogwegt, being an Export Manager is about far more than sales; it’s about managing a fast-paced commodity book in some of the world’s most dynamic markets. Based in Arnhem, you will join our dedicated Africa & Middle East team, taking responsibility for the trade of milk powders and dairy commodities across a diverse portfolio of existing and new customers.
Your impact at Hoogwegt
- Manage the end-to-end buying and selling of dairy products (such as fat-filled milk powder and full cream milk powder) for Africa (70%) and the Middle East (30%).
- Assess and navigate complex political and economic risks. You won't just look at numbers in Excel; you will use your intuition and relationships to ensure deals hold ground in challenging environments.
- Take a "hands-on" approach to trade finance, dealing with compliance and complex payment structures across different jurisdictions.
- Consolidate existing partnerships with major FMCG players, distributors, and industrial factories while keeping a sharp eye on emerging business opportunities in rapidly growing populations.
- Visit your markets to maintain deep-rooted connections with your customers.
The ideal match
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- 3 to 5 years of direct trading experience (preferably in commodities like oil, dairy, or softs).
- Proven ability to translate macro-economic and geopolitical developments into commercial actions.
- Experience or a strong affinity for the "solution-based" mindset required to trade in high-risk regions.
- Fluent in English and Dutch; French is highly preferred, given the focus on Western Africa.
- Intuitive, pragmatic, and strong business acumen.
