Accounting Manager
In this challenging role, you will be play an important part in the development of our Finance function in Rotterdam. The interesting part of this role that is has three essential elements which fold into one: Leadership, Operations and Transformation.
Leadership. You will lead, support, and develop a motivated finance team (4 people), fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability. You will provide guidance, coaching, and clear direction to ensure both individual and team growth in line with Refresco’s ambitions.
Operations.You will oversee the accurate and timely delivery of all recurring finance activities, including month-end closings, reporting, reconciliations, and other core deliverables. You will ensure consistency, compliance, and operational excellence in all financial processes.
Transformation. You will contribute to strategic initiatives that strengthen the finance function, including process improvements, system enhancements, and SOX readiness activities. You will play a key role in driving efficiency and preparing the team for future business needs.

This position reports directly to the Head of Accounting & Financial Control Europe with 4 direct reports.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of four financial accountants.
- Ensure month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes are accurate, compliant and on time.
- Oversee payroll administration and ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Ensuring proper execution and documentation of SOX controls and strengthen SOX compliance and maintain robust internal controls.
- Drive process improvements, standardisation, and automation.
- Manage the preparation of the budget, forecasts, and three-year planning (3YP) in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Plan and coordinate team activities effectively to manage increasing workloads and ensure deadlines are met.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Tax, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Leverage Power BI, Excel, and support the optimisation of newly implemented technologies (e.g. BlackLine).
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring data integrity, managing general ledger (GL) administration and ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Managing purchase bonus calculations, accounts receivable, and resolving invoicing issues.
- Performing inventory controls and supporting reconciliation processes.
About you
- At least a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field ( RA/ACCA is nice to have)
- Big4 or top-tier accounting firm background strongly preferred.
- You have at least 5+ years of working experience in audit/ accounting, including 2+ years of leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting and planning (3YP).
- Proven track record in process improvement and automation projects.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI.
- Experienced with: SAP4HANA, BlackLine experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership capabilities and passion for developing team members.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus, not required.
