Do you enjoy turning pricing and sales performance into clear financial impact?? Are you energized by working at the heart of pricing, margins and customer performance? And do you want your insights to directly influence commercial strategy across Europe?
We are looking to strengthen our Europe Business Control Team at our European Headquarters in Rotterdam by welcoming a new colleague as our:
Junior Business Controller
Commercial
As our Junior (Commercial) Business Controller, you will contribute to driving commercial performance across Europe by turning financial and market data into actionable insights. In this role, you will become our ‘performance optimizer’ for the commercial organization: analysing margins, volumes, pricing, and customer performance to support smarter, data-driven decision-making.
What makes this role unique is the strong business partnering element combined with international exposure. You will report and work closely with the Senior Business Controller Commercial and collaborate with European Key Account Managers and stakeholders across nine business units.
You will operate at the intersection of finance and commercial decision-making, translating pricing strategies, customer negotiations and market developments into clear financial impact across Europe.
You will work with a high degree of ownership and visibility, challenging stakeholders with fact-based analysis and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement. Beyond the analytical scope, this role offers you the opportunity to further develop your business control expertise, grow your BI capabilities, and build your career within our international finance organization.
What does the role entail?
As Junior Business Controller, you support and strengthen the financial direction of our European commercial activities:
• Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on sales, margins, and volume performance across European markets, identifying trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
• Acting as a trusted finance business partner to European Key Account Managers, supporting pricing analysis, customer profitability assessments, and commercial decision-making.
• Translating external market data and internal commercial KPIs into clear, actionable insights for the commercial organization.
• Building, maintaining, and continuously improving Power BI dashboards to provide timely and transparent visibility into commercial performance.
• Preparing and supporting the monthly commercial financial reporting cycle, including budget and forecast processes, and contributing to strategic planning.
• Challenging stakeholders through quantitative, fact-based performance analysis to highlight risks and opportunities.
• Supporting the harmonization of commercial KPI definitions and ensuring consistent application across European business units.
• Acting as an advocate for data quality, governance, and continuous improvement of reporting processes.
• Contributing to the development of new tools, technologies, and smarter ways of working, including the use of AI solutions where relevant.
Who are you?
We are looking for an analytical, ambitious, and proactive finance professional with a passion for commercial performance and data-driven decision-making, with the following experience and qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Finance, Business Control, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of working experience in finance, preferably within a commercial, FP&A, or business control environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate financial and commercial data into meaningful insights.
• Experience with Power BI or a strong drive to quickly develop advanced dashboarding skills (Power BI experience is a strong plus).
• Strong focus on data quality, consistency, and governance.
• Self-starter with a sense of urgency who thrives in an environment with tight timelines and competing priorities.
• Ability to influence stakeholders through fact-based analysis and clear communication.
• Experience working in an international environment is a plus.
• Fluency in English; an additional European language is a plus.
• Curiosity for new technologies and openness to leveraging AI tools to work smarter and faster.
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and team spirit.
• A clear communicator who enjoys interacting with stakeholders across functions and levels.
• And importantly, someone who brings positive energy and is simply fun to work with.
