At Corbion, we exist to champion preservation in all its forms, preserving food and food production, health, and our planet.
Please note: We only consider candidates who are currently residing in the Netherlands.
The role
As a Lab Technician within our Innovation and Solution Development organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and high-quality operation of a specialized analytical part of the ISD laboratory focused on polymer analyses. You will join a small, hands-on team where you are not only responsible for executing analyses, but also for organizing, coordinating, and continuously improving lab operations.
This is not a purely execution-based technician role. You will take ownership of the day-to-day functioning of the lab: managing planning, ensuring quality and compliance, supporting and guiding colleagues, and acting as the central point of coordination between scientists, quality stakeholders, and lab technicians. Operating in a dynamic R&D-driven environment, you will work with newly developed polymer materials, contributing to both routine testing and the transition of new analytical methods into operational use.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical tests on polymer materials and their monomeric units, e.g. viscosity measurements, molecular weight determination by GPC and rest monomeric determination via GC
- Plan, coordinate, and prioritize laboratory activities to ensure efficient workflow
- Take ownership of overall laboratory organization from sample intake to final reporting
- Review and verify analytical results and reports before release
- Troubleshoot analytical and operational issues
- Provide operational guidance to less experienced technicians
- Ensure work is executed according to SOPs, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Maintain and improve lab documentation
- Identify and implement improvements in safety, efficiency, and quality
- Work with electronic lab systems (ELN/LIMS-like)
- Collaborate with the ISD analytical team, scientists, polymer synthesis teams, and quality stakeholders
You bring
- MBO 4 or bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry or a related field
- Several years of experience in an analytical lab performing routine analyses
- Experience with analytical techniques such as viscosity measurements and chromatography (GC, GPC)
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Affinity with working in a quality-driven environment
- Ability to take ownership and responsibility for lab operations
- Strong communication skills and ability to guide colleagues
- Good command of English
- Experience in a regulated or GLP-like environment is a plus
- Experience with polymer analysis is a strong plus
- Experience in mentoring or coordinating colleagues is a plus
- Structured, proactive, and hands-on mindset
What we offer
- A hybrid role combining lab work with coordination and ownership
- Opportunity to make real impact on lab performance and improvements
- Work in an R&D-driven biomaterials environment
- Exposure to analytical lifecycle and collaboration with scientists
- Collaborative cross-functional environment
- Opportunity to improve and shape lab operations
