Benelux is looking for a new colleague for the position of Office Based
Account Manager (OBAM) in Rotterdam.
What
will you be doing?
As an Office
Based Account Manager, you play a crucial role in expanding the sales of
IMCD Benelux’s product portfolio within a defined market segment. Working from
our Rotterdam office, you focus on telephone-based sales to existing customers,
proactive cold acquisition, and the identification of cross‑selling
opportunities. You support stock management, strengthen customer relationships,
and drive revenue growth through structured and well‑coordinated commercial
activities.
You
collaborate closely with Inside Sales and Account Managers, representing IMCD
with professionalism and customer focus. You monitor market trends, understand
customer needs, and translate opportunities into concrete results.
Your key tasks:
Sales Process
- Initiating sales activities in alignment with Account Managers by proactively contacting existing customers and prospects
- Growing turnover and margin by responding to customer purchasing behaviours and promoting new products (cross-selling)
- Analysing stock levels together with Inside Sales and defining the right sales approach
- Providing additional support to the sales process when required — such as issuing urgent quotations or other administrative support — ensuring continuity, timely customer service, and a hands-on, proactive mindset
Relationship Management - Maintaining and strengthening relationships within your assigned product portfolio
- Identifying customer needs, challenges, and opportunities and providing well‑founded product advice
- Representing IMCD’s reputation and contributing to our international growth
Reporting & Coordination - Providing clear reports on progress, opportunities, and risks within your market segment
- Coordinating closely with Inside Sales and using internal reporting tools effectively
Opportunities & Market Development - Staying informed about market developments through seminars, training, and courses
- Monitoring product innovations and trends and engaging with existing and new suppliers
Who are
we looking for?
Someone who
thrives in a dynamic commercial environment. You enjoy taking the lead,
building strong customer relationships, thinking ahead, and approaching
challenges with a proactive mindset. You communicate clearly and you balance commercial drive with accuracy and structure.
What you bring: - Bachelor-level degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent command of Dutch and English (spoken & written). Good command of German is a strong plus
- Strong commercial insight and customer-oriented approach
- Affinity with IMCD’s products and markets
- Experience with telesales or inside account management is a plus
- Strong MS Office skills
- Analytical mindset, structured working style, and result-driven attitude
- Team spirit, flexibility, and willingness to collaborate closely with colleagues
